What does a lactation consultant do & what does a visit include?
In-home visits are scheduled at your baby's feeding time. A
medical history and a feeding history will be taken with an observation of a
feeding session in the comfort of your own environment. When
applicable, a written feeding plan will be outlined and left for you to
follow. Any other concerns or questions will also be addressed.
A written report will be mailed to your primary health care
provider. Two weeks of telephone follow up is included.
Plan on your initial visit taking approximately 2 hours. A package
plan with two follow up visits rather than phone calls is also available.

Insurance Policy
Payment is due at time of service. I will be happy to work out a payment plan option for you if it is requested and arranged at the time the appointment is made. Although I do not file for insurance reimbursement, clients are provided with a lactation super bill, a generic insurance form and are encouraged to do so. It is best to check with your insurance provider to see if lactation services are covered. Flexible spending and self funded plans do often reimburse the client. Pre-authorization is also helpful.
I strive to see each mother and baby in a timely fashion due to the importance of feeding issues. I will do my best to see you within 24 hours of your call if it is at all possible. Non urgent requests may be made in advance at your convenience.
